Join the San Diego Parrot Head Club as we partner with Ford San Diego Ironman to support the Challenged Athletes Foundation We have been approached by the Ford Ironman race to participate in helping athletes as they transition from one stage to another.

Here are the details. Ford Ironman 70.3 California (1.2 mile swim in the Harbor; 56 mile bike ride from the Harbor thru Camp Pendleton, up San Clemente State Park, back onto Camp Pendleton to the Harbor; 13.1 mile run done in two loops of the Strand) Saturday, March 29th, 2008 Oceanside Harbor, Transition Area Volunteer Needs: 50 Volunteers Time: 11am-6pm

Job Description: Transition Area Pointers/Athlete Support…this is the hub of excitement. This is where the athletes have all their equipment and will go to change from swim to bike to run. It's important to look for athletes that may need to medical attention and walk them to the Med Tent, point athletes to where they need to head out, keep athletes from jumping out in front of other athletes as they get onto the center carpet, keeping their spirits up and encouraging them to keep going strong, etc. No family members or friends of the athletes are allowed in this area so volunteers play a crucial part of cheering the athletes on. We will provide a volunteer shirt (but we'd like for you to wear your Margaritaville outfits!), a sack lunch, wristband for access to transition area

We also would like to offer $500 for your non-profit if you would have 50 volunteers (if you come up with more/less volunteers, we'll re-configure the amount). Just for your info, the charity our race supports is Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) and we support many military units that help participate to make this event a success.

This event sets the standard for all the other North American Sports events (Ironmans) so we strive to set the bar high as well as the most entertaining. I appreciate any help as I need to get 1500 volunteers overall!

Gina Thomas

As you can see we need 50 volunteers. This has the potential to be as fun and fulfilling as the Rock And Roll Marathon Chuck Butler ( butlercg1@cox.net 619-660-0390) and Gail Folsom (legspoway@aol.com 858 486 9011-home, 619 508 1646.-cell) have volunteered to organize our members for this event. Please contact them if you can participate or have any questions and stay tuned for updates. To make it easier to volunteer, we have attached the Iron Man Volunteer form to the bottom of this e mail. Please complete and return via e mail to Grady Howes gradyhowes@earthlink.net) If you have any friends who are looking to have a great time on March 29th, please invite them. There will be a SDPHC North County Happy Hour immediately after the event, at Monterey Canner's in Oceanside Harbor.

55th Annual World Championship Over-The-Line Tournament July 12-13 & 19-20, 2008 With the help of Councilman Faulconer's office it has been determined that the "Alcohol Ban" will not apply to Fiesta Island during the days of the Over-the-Line Tournament. OMBAC asks that you exercise all due restraint and treat all of our patrons with courtesy and respect Join us at Stinkys Friday afternoon for our opening night party **** Reserved Parking for OTL - Limited Time Offer **** You can now reserve parking at OMBAC's 2008 OTL Tournament for all four days and have Island Access even when Fiesta Island is closed to regular traffic (with the one exception of 1 PM to 4 PM on July 14).
