SDPHC Business Meeting Minutes 8/26/07

Rock Bottom Brewery Gaslamp – Brewmaster Dinner this Thursday 8/28
It's the 7 Islands Brewmaster dinner from 6-10pm. It's 7 courses with beer at each course. Proceeds go to the Rock Bottom Foundation for Miracle in the Gaslamp. It's $35. Contact Mikki Neal at Rock Bottom to reserve a spot. Seating is limited.

Jimmy Buffett @ Irvine 9/29
Tickets went on sale last Monday and tickets sold out. We were able to get some tickets for the club. But those are gone too. Buffett won't be coming to San Diego this fall.

Anniversary Party 9/21 & 22
Camping is almost sold out. There are only 2 spots left. And Campland is sold out. If you rented an RV through Travel Time, please let Janice' know. Also, if you need to know your space number, contact Janice'. For those of you camping, we will be doing a camp decoration contest. It's an open theme this year.

Armbands – sold at every parrot head event. Bands are $25. Please buy your armbands in advance. We can't sell them at the event. If you don't have a band when you get to Campland on Saturday, Campland will charge you an entrance fee (if they let you in). (If you come by on Friday to get your camping spots or listen to music, you won't be charged.)

You don't have to be a member of the club to attend. We are encouraging members to help sell armbands. But you need to turn in the money or unsold bands by the 12th.

Last year, we had almost 700 attendees. We are trying to sell even more. This year, we have additional expenses. This year we are paying the bands (a reduced fee). We have flyers to pass out regarding the event.

Volunteers
We need lots of help. The beer serving slots are filled. But all of the other areas need help. Many of the morning slots are filled. Please, we need your help in the afternoon and evening – especially for security, silent auction, and raffle. Each slot is 2 hours. Without you, we can't make this event successful. We have 132 slots to fill. You don't have to abstain from drinking in order to work. Just don't show up for your shift drunk. There is a form on the SDPHC website with the volunteer positions. Or just email Janice' with your desired position and time.

Donations
We need items for silent auction and raffle. Please solicit your work, businesses you patronize, or friends for items for the auction and raffle. Once you get a donation, please email the donation form to Janice'. And you can bring the gift to a meeting or the day of the event (before 10am). Also donations of new or gently used Hawaiian shirts or tropical-style t-shirts. Please clean and folded. All of the forms (donation letter or form) are on the SDPHC website and attached to the e-newsletters.

SDPHC Events 08/26/2007

Mark your Calendars!! The dates for SDPHC's 12th Anniversary Party at Campland on the Bay are September 21/22!! Time is running out and Uncle Parrot Head needs you!! We need Volunteers to set up, Tear down and the following stations in two hour shifts on Saturday the 22nd: Beer Servers, Security, Membership, Merchandise, Silent Auction and Opportunity drawing. Please remember this is an all day event, from 10 AM to 10 PM and while everyone loves to work in the morning we REALLY need volunteers in the afternoon and evening. A volunteer form is attached at the end of this e-mail and or you may contact Sharon Clark, Sharon@sdphc.org 619-475-6964 to volunteer.

We also need donations for our silent Auction, Opportunity Drawing, Hawaiian shirt and T-shirt sales. All the money raised by these events goes to charity and makes up the overwhelming majority of our charity money so we need a lot of donations. A wise young women in our club once said that if everyone in the club donated one item to the silent auction, one item to the raffle, one gently used Hawaiian or Buffett related t-shirt, and solicited an item from one donor would have a very successful event. And with 400 members in our club this is so true - think about how many items we would have!

Wristbands are on sale at all SDPHC events and there are great rates on camping and discount RV rental. There will be two stages of 11 hours of no-stop music featuring all your favorite local parrot head bands. We will have our own specially brewed Parrot Head beer from Rock Bottom Brewing Co. There will be a great silent auction and opportunity to benefit the Randall Clark Fund and other young amputees with medical expenses and to help them regain their lives. The camping reservation form, donation form and donation letter available at www.sdphc.org. They are attached at the end of this e mail. We are down to 4 campsites left. See Squawkings below for more information and details.
