Volunteer for RnR marathon water station!!!

Parrot Heads,

It's that time of the year again. The Rock & Roll marathon is a little more than a month away. Thank you to the 34 who already have signed up! But we need more volunteers. Our stop has 40 tables. We need 80-100 people in order to provide the wonderful service we have become known for.

Elite prefers that we register online, it makes their job a little easier to keep track of the volunteers. You can register online by clicking this link:

http://www.elitevolunteer.com/er/signup_form1.php?event_id=142&group_id=520.

This is a direct link so you don't have to specify the San Diego Parrot Head Club. You will see only two screens. Very easy! After you have registered online, please email me that you will be available on Sunday, June 3rd.

For three of the last four years, we have had the best water stop on the course. That is because we have
the best volunteers. To show we have the best volunteers and water stop, Elite given us good billing on their web page for the water stops. You can see this by clicking on the link http://www.rnrmarathon.com/volunteer/volunteer_waterstations.html

We have the same water stop as last year. The runners will now be approaching SDPHC from the SOUTH. Our station is at Mile 14 -- just over halfway through the marathon. We will be the first water station runners hit after the half-marathon milestone. The previous station is at Mile 12, so we get hit hard. We still get to show up 4:30 AM, but get to go home (or party) earlier. They will be opening Morena Blvd around 11:00.

This year the concert will be held behind the Cox center at SDSU, instead of at Coors. The headliner is still to be named. And Elite is also offering a discount to the Padre game on June 5th. All of is in addition to the tee shirt. :)

Remember, working the waterstop gives points toward concert seats for Buffett.

Thanks in advance for your help.

SDPHC Business Meeting Minutes 4/18/07

Linda is retiring as Treasurer of the SDPHC for over 10 years. We gave her a plaque and Sharon gave a short speech thanking her. And then Linda spoke briefly about her experiences over the years.

Elections
Moderated by club founder John Bowe

We elected officers for the board – president, vp, secretary, treasurer, and members-at-large.

President – Linda nominated Bob. It was seconded. No one else was nominated. He was voted in unanimously.

Vice President – Gail nominated Sharon. It was seconded. No one else was nominated. She was voted in unanimously.

Treasurer – Chuck nominated Janice. It was seconded. No one else was nominated. She was voted in unanimously.

Secretary – Chuck nominated Wendy. It was seconded. No one else was nominated. She was voted in unanimously.

Members-at-Large: Chuck Butler, Gail Folsom, and Nan Clain were all nominated and seconded. No one else was nominated. All were voted in unanimously.

Incorporation Update
It's officially. We will be approved for a 501c 4 designation (civic organization). We will be a non-profit organization. We won't have to pay federal taxes. We hoped for 501c 3 designation (charity). But there were too many stipulations for that. It required that raise money at event. Hence working the RnR marathon didn't count. We may try to establish a 501c 3 Foundation under PHIP to get the designation. But we are still in an exploratory phase. And the woman working on our accounting for all of the tax and incorporation issues – Alicia Owens – has donated 100% of her time.

Upcoming Events:
Rock Bottom Foundation –

Next Wednesday, a Chocolate & Beer tasting event, 7pm and on. For $25 or 40 per couple. Chocolate paired with specialty beers.

May 23rd – going to the Padres – dinner from Rock Bottom and then a Padres game.

May 12 – VFW Luau – $20 per person. Gary Seiler & Buffed out is playing. Food is included.

Details for all of the events are in the e-newsletter.

May 19th – Coming Out Party moved to May from Sept. At Mariner's Point. Starts at noon and goes to 10pm. Pre-sale tickets are $10 or $15 at the gate. This is an all-day music fest. (It commemorates an OMBAC member who was a prisoner of war in Vietnam. This was a celebration to welcome him home, coming out of war.) And this is a fundraiser for OTL. Bands are still TBD, but all local popular bands. You can buy tickets at the next SDPHC meeting and local beach bars (such as The Beach Comber). In addition, SDPHC will be doing a raft up the same day. Boats will be out there at Mariner's point to hear the music and party with us.

July – 2nd and 3rd weekends – Over The Line. Bob C is organizing the practices – every Thur at Mariner's point – starting 4:30-5. We're sponsoring 7 teams only. New people are coming out to practice. So come out frequently to participate. More details to come. Again, we'll have a compound at OTL. Members only. And we'll need volunteers to help run the compound 2 hour shifts. We'll discuss more logistics at the next meeting. Linda Olson is still coordinating teams. Sign ups are May 5th. This year, the cost is $75 per team. So if you register, then you better play.

Carlsbad 5000 Water stop
We worked this April 1. We had 10 tables and 10 volunteers. Linda Olson and Stephanie Bridger both ran it. Chuck said it worked out well and all had a good time.

Rock N Roll Marathon – June 3
So far, only 33 people have signed up. Please, we need 80-100 people to register. We will have 40 tables. Sign up online at the Elite racing site. Details are in the e-newsletter with links to register.

Charity Pub Crawl – June 9
This year's charity recipient is Challenged America. Amanda and Janice are running this. 46 people have paid. We're maxing at 70 people. We will not get another bus. We don't think we can fill it, so we will loose money to donate to the charity. We'll hit 7 bars. And then at 6pm at Paradise Bar & Grill, we'll have our happy hour finale. You can come to the finale whether or not you do the crawl.

12th Anniversary Party on Sept 21-22
Camping – people are not paying for spots. If you don't pay, you don't get a reservation. Contact Janice for a spot. But we will sell out. And Sept is a popular time for camping, so if you don't get spot through us, there may not be other spots available. We also have a deal with a local RV company if you want to rent a camper. They can even set it up for you. Details are in the e-newsletter.

Again, music from 11am to 10pm, two stages of music, a silent auction and raffle. This is a child friendly event and an area for adults – the beer garden. You need to buy your armband in advance for $25. This will waive the entrance fee to Campland.

The recipient for this year's charity is the Randall Clark Fund, Bob & Sharon's son, who lost his leg in a car crash earlier this year. It will help cover medial expenses and a new prosthesis. Any extra money will go to Challenged America.

The musical line-up will be about the same as last year.

This is an open event. You don't have to be a club member attend. So please pass the word to all of your friends. We are hoping to have 800-1000 people this year. This is the only southern ca parrot head event this year. (Migration is in Vegas and Phis to the West is in Laughlin.)

Phins to the West – Laughlin, NV
First weekend in May. Registration is closed, but you can always check for cancellations.

Migration – Las Vegas (not Long Beach this year)
It's the weekend after OTL. It's centered at the Hooter's casino. Rooms start at $129, but you better reserve quickly. You can try online. And more details in the e-newsletter.

Finally….
PHIP has almost 500 clubs, but we are #10 in membership in the nation. We have 397 members this year.

Badges
Jeff brought 120 for people who did not have them. Jeff and Betsy are streamlining the process to so it's faster and cheaper to make a badge. If you do not have a badge or have one that has a typo, see Jeff. If he doesn't have your name, he will add you to a list for the next round.

Little Race for Little People
Details to come, but we will participate again. Number of boats is TBD, and based partially on what we raise at the OTL compound. Also, we are looking for crew. Generally we sponsor 2-3 boats. We are the defending champions 2 years in a row. They are changing the location of the race and where onlookers view. So come out and watch and look out for cheaters.

Stand Down – event for Homeless Veterans
2nd weekend of July 7/13-15. We always donate to the event. They gave us an award for all of support we've provided over the years. They can use donations all year round for clothes and toiletries. Donate at SDPHC meetings or contact Errol Samuelson. The recipients are homeless men and woman service people and their children.

Hi Parrot Heads,
It's that time of the year again. The Rock & Roll marathon is only a few months away, and we need to start getting everyone signed up. We will be having the same water stop as last year. The runners will now be approaching SDPHC from the SOUTH. Our station is at Mile 14 -- just over halfway thru the marathon. We will be the first water station runners hit after the half-marathon milestone. The previous station is at Mile 12, so we get hit hard. We still get to show up 4:30 AM, but get to go home (or party) earlier. They will be opening Morena Blvd around noon. We are looking for volunteers. We need about 80-100; last year we had 40 water tables.

For three of the last 4 years, we have had the best water stop on the course; that is because we have the best volunteers. To show we have the best volunteers and water stop, Elite given us excellent billing on their web page for the water stops. You can see this by clicking on the link http://www.rnrmarathon.com/volunteer/volunteer_waterstations.html This is due to the wonderful club members who take the time to volunteer. They prefer we register online, it makes their job a little easier to keep track of the volunteers. You can register online by clicking this link http://www.rnrmarathon.com/volunteer.html. Be sure you specify the San Diego Parrot Head Club on the second page drop down box for water stations. After you have registered online, please email me at butlercg1@cox.net that you will be available on Sunday, June 3rd. Thanks in advance for your help

Saturday June 9 SDPHC Annual Charity Pub-Crawl. The pub-crawl will start and finis at Paradise Bar and Grill on Midway. The participating pubs are Paradise Bar and Grill, Wong's Golden Dragon, The Galley at the Chula Vista Marina (last years winner), Rock Bottom Brewing Co Gaslamp, Sky Box, Fiddler's Green, and Desi N Friends. We will finish up with a charity happy hour at Paradise. Cost is $35. This event is limited in numbers-approximately 70, depending on the bus capacity, and will sell out. We will be accepting money for this event, which is non refundable, at the upcoming Business meeting Wednesday April 18th. Anyone who cannot or chooses not to go on the bur ride is welcome at the Happy Hour, which will also feature a silent auction and opportunity drawing to support Challenged America, a 501 3c charity. We will also be looking for volunteers who are not going to ride the bus to set up the Happy Hour at Paradise. Pub Crawl Reservation form is attached at the end of the newsletter. Please contact Janice at janice@sdphc.org for more information

SDPHC - Rock N Roll Marathon

Parrot Heads,

It's that time of the year again. The Rock & Roll marathon is only a few months away, and we need to start getting everyone signed up. A big thank you to those who already have signed up.

We will be running the same water stop as last year.

We need about 80-100, last year we had 40 water tables.

You are receiving this message, because you were a wonderful person, who in the past gave up a Sunday for a good cause. I am hoping you will do the same this year. For three years of the last four, we have had the best water stop on the course, that is because we have the best volunteers.

To show we have the best volunteers and water stop, Elite given us good billing on their web page
for the water stops. You can see this by clicking on the link http://www.rnrmarathon.com/volunteer/volunteer_waterstations.html This is due to the wonderful club members who take the time to volunteer.

They prefer we register online; it makes their job a little easier to keep track of the volunteers. You can register online by clicking this link http://www.elitevolunteer.com/er/signup_form1.php?event_id=142&group_id=520.
This is a direct link so you don't have to specify the San Diego Parrot Head Club.

This year the concert will be held behind the convention center on the bay, instead of a Coors. Elite
is also offering a discount to the Padre game on June 5th. All of is in addition to the tee shirt. :) After you have registered online, please email me that you will be available on Sunday, June 3rd.

Thanks in advance for your help.
