Sunday January 7 The Miracle in the Gaslamp- Dining with dignity

Each guest will receive a warm welcome and an extraordinary dining experience. Seated at tables with white linen table-cloths and napkins, silver ware and china, guests will enjoy a traditional holiday meal complete with all of the trimmings. New gifts to be distributed include warm adult and children's clothing, blankets, school supplies and other essentials. Each guest will have the chance to make a long distance telephone call, enjoy a video game room and visit with our strolling magician and clown. From a single event in Denver in 1996, the Miracle Events have grown in response to the tremendous need across the country. In 2006-07, in partnership with local non-profit agencies, over 10,000 homeless, displaced and disadvantaged people in eleven cities will receive an outpouring of community generosity. These events produce smiles on faces that have seen mostly scarcity and hardship. To Volunteer:

SDPHC Business Meeting Minutes 11/27/06

Treasurer's Report

We are going into December with $7100 in our account. We expect a few expenses, but still should have about $6500 when we go into 2007.

We are filing for tax-exempt status for 2007. There is no guarantee we'll get it, but we are apply for 501 C3. Our hope is to get there by Jan 2007. It's moving along and we're on an appropriate timeline.

PHIP is creating a Treasurer's handbook. It's not yet been release, but from what we heard at a MOTM treasurer's meeting, we're 95% compliant with PHIP's guidelines. It will be easy to get to 100% once the handbook is released. Clubs must comply, but the guidelines are helpful and pragmatic. If you have specific questions about this, contact Janice Berube.

January Events

Sunday January 7th

Miracle in the Gaslamp – sponsored by Rockbottom Brewery. They feed families from Father Joe's – meals and gifts for the family. Again, we'll be volunteering to work that day. This will be our 3rd year. We'll help serve food and distribute gifts. More details to come. And you can go to the Rockbottom website for more details and to volunteer.

Saturday, January 27th

At Fiddler's Green on Shelter Island – from 1pm – 4pm – raise money for Challenged America. This charity came in 3rd place when we voted for charity recipients. Jerry Gontag will be playing. Fiddler's will be supplying appetizers. We'll have a silent auction and raffle.

Wednesday, January 10th

Next business meeting at Desi N Friends

SDPHC Holiday Party – Tuesday December 12th at Desi N Friends @ 6pm

But this is a potluck, so feel free to bring something – especially a side or dessert. Jerry Gontag will be playing. Come dressed in your holiday garb. We'll have prize for most festive costume (donated by Captain's Cove). Bring an un-wrapped gift, gift card, or $5 donation. Dori and Sharon will come early to decorate. We'll have the upstairs room. If you'd like to help out, feel free to come early! Also, we're going to give our check to the Monarch school that night. If possible, please RSVP to Sharon@sdphc.org so we can get a handout. This way we'll have enough food. (And you can buy food from the bar.) We're going to buy a thank you gift for Desi.

OB Christmas Parade – this coming Sat, Dec 2nd

No one at the business meeting said they were going to attend. There were a couple of people not at the meeting who said they could attend. But that's not enough support. So we are going to back out of the parade.
