The SDPHC 11th Anniversary Party and Charity Fund Raiser will take place on Friday September 29th + Saturday, September 30th! .
This major event will again, feature 11 hours of non-stop music from all your favorite local Parrot Head bands, beer, wine, wine margaritas, soft drinks, and water. There will be a huge Opportunity drawing and Silent Auction. Our chosen charity for this year will be The Monarch School. Musical Line up at this time Jerry Gontang and Stars on the Water (closing), Gary Seiler, Ron Bell and Donnie Bowman, Joe Rathburn's Island, Rob Mehl, Duo Tones, Island Breeze, Jeff Lee, Mark Baxter, Todd Jacques and friends-"The All Right Guys". The cost of armbands will be $25.00 which include 11 hours of non-stop music, beer, wine, wine margaritas, and water. Camping is SOLD OUT. You can check with Campland at 1-800- 4BAYFUN to see if they have any sites available.

Our most profitable events are the Raffle and Silent Auction. The overwhelming amount of money we raise at the Anniversary Party comes from these two events, and 100% of this money goes to our charity. This year, it is the Monarch School, which provides an accredited education to homeless and at-risk kids while caring for basic needs such as healthcare, food, clothing and personal hygiene. See www.monarchschools.org for more details. It is a non-profit 5013c institution. And this is where you come in to help. Please, please, it is time to solicit donations for these two events.

Ask your local businesses or establishments that you patronize to donate items for our cause. The donation letter, donation form, and Monarch School fact sheet are attached to help you solicit donations. Once you receive a donation it is not necessary to get the item to us, but we need you to turn in the Donation Form with all of the information we need to make Silent Auction Sheets, etc for the item. We prefer that you bring the item to the event as storage before the event can be a problem, (unless it is a certificate-you should arrange to get these to us before the party) to us the morning of the party. Questions? Contact Janice' at Captains cove 234-5050, Janice@sdphc.org, Sharon Clark 475-6964 Sharon@sdphc.org, or Bob Clark at BobClark@sdphc.org

We would appreciate your faxing a copy of the donation to Janice at 858-270-6021, or, you may email a copy of the form to Angie Cavesina cavesina@cox.net. The board looks forward to all of your help. Every item helps another child get the education he or she needs to succeed

We are also collecting Hawaiian shirts and gently used Jimmy Buffett/parrot head club shirts that will be sold at the Anniversary party to raise money for Monarch School, you can bring those to the meeting, or bring them to the Merchandise Table the morning of the event. (Clean, please!)

We can also use your grocery bags the day of the event. Please bring them by the Merchandise Table on the 30th.

Thank you all for you support and attendance at what will prove to be the most "Phun Event of the Year"

SDPHC Business Meeting 9/6/06

Little Race for Little People Recap
2nd year in a row – our team captained by Jeanne Myers took 1st place.

SDPHC Corporation Taxes
We are now paid in full up through 2005. We are current!! We are working on getting taxes paid for 2006. And we are filing paper work so that we will be non-profit social club from 2007 on.

Dues Membership
John and Stephanie Bridger have taken over the chair. They sent out notices to all members last week for 2007 dues. Please renew. If you have already paid, then just ignore it.

We need the working capital for the Anniversary party expenses. (A lot of money comes in from the party, but it does take money up front to put on this event. And we have less money this year due to taxes.) Now through the web site, you can pay via PayPal. Or you still can pay at an event or send in a check (address on website).

Anniversary Party
Camping – There are no spots left. So please don't ask Janice for any more camp spots.

Buy your armbands!!!! We really need to sell them. If you have an option to sell them to friends, contact Janice. Also, it's important for us to know how many people are coming (via wristband sales) so we can better plan for food and drinks. Right now, we are at 220 armbands sold (includes campers).

Volunteers – Please sign up for positions. We have 118 2-hour spots to fill. 18 are for beverage service. We need LOTS of help for security for silent auction and the beer garden. We need raffle, membership, and merchandise areas too. Please contact any of the SDPHC board members to volunteer or sign up at a SDPHC event. This year, if you complete a 2-hour shift, you will get a free Margaritaville hat or t-shirt.

Donations – We need items for the raffle or silent auction. Hey – it's a great way to re-gift that item that's unopened in your closet. Please – ask your local businesses for donations. Forms are available to download on the club website.

Silent Auction – This year, must be present to win the item. We're not going to take the items home and try to meet up with the winner days later.

Concert line-up – We have 10 hours of live music. The line-up will be sent out in a future email.

Buffett in San Diego Oct 26, 2006

Hi Phellow Parrot Heads! We've been having such wonderful weather at the beach. Now it's time to enjoy the weather as you help our environment! SDPHC is volunteering for a beach clean up day. We are doing this in conjunction with the Surfrider Foundation. I need at least 20 volunteers for this event. We'll clean up the stretch of Mission Beach at Belmont park on Saturday, September 9, from 9am -11am. There is no prep work for this. Just show up. We'll stroll the beach for two hours as we collect garbage. Surfrider provides the trash bags and gloves. This is a great event for the entire family. And students can earn volunteer hours for this too. Please bring comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen, and water. There is plenty of parking by the roller coaster. Afterwards, we can head to one of the several parrot head phriendly bars in the area, such as Coasters or The Saloon. If you want to volunteer, please email me so I can get a headcount, wendy@sdphc.org Thank you for your help!!
