Anniversary Party Donations

See www.monarchschools.org for more details. It is a non-profit 5013c institution. And this is where you come in to help. Please, please, it is time to solicit donations for these two events. Ask your local businesses or establishments that you patronize to donate items for our cause. A donation letter describing this year's cause, a Monarch School fact sheet, and a donation form for items are available at our web site www.sdphc.org and our attached to this e mail. Once you receive a donation or may bring it to any event or contact Janice' at Capains cove 234-50550, Janice@sdphc.org or Sharon Clark 475-6964, Sharon@sdphc.org to arrange pick up. Message from Mark Mulligan

Hello, just wanted to send a late but heartfelt thank you to all of you in the San Diego area who showed up for Gary Seiler's recent show that was dedicated to my wife Adela, who died in a traffic accident on July 16. A few days later after that touching tribute at the Galley, Gary brought me incredible notes and letters of support from all of you that I only recently have had a chance to finish reading. Your love and support and especially your prayers are greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.

I've posted a letter and update of my boys' condition on the website at http://markmulligan.net. I'd appreciate it if you take a moment to read it. I'll do my best to update the home page with news about their progress frequently since many of you have been concerned about their health and I have not had the time to keep in touch with you individually as I'd like to. In the meantime, please keep those prayers coming. They're being heard, my friends. Gary, you've done a great job in taking that important message to listening ears not only in California but on the Pacific Northwest tour that I was to join you on. You're an awesome brother.

Adela knew how much I loved going to San Diego and hoped to join me on my next trip in late September, when I join Gary in San Diego and then see many of you at the Campland event for the San Diego Parrothead Club. (The dates are posted on the website in case you'd like to come out and say hello) It'll be good to see your faces again and I appreciate all you've done. God bless you and adios for now....

Mark

SDPHC Business Meeting Minutes 8/9/06

Little Race for Little People at the Chula Vista Marina

Week from Saturday – August 19th We are running two boats this year and the seats are filled. If you would like to crew, there are other boats (other teams) who need people. Contact Sharon Clark (Sharon@sdphc.org) or Rick Santos (dorkraider@hotmail.com ) if you are interested.

The event needs volunteers for cooking burgers and helping with the children's games. If you are interested, contact Sharon Clark.

Finally, there is a cocktail party the night before (18th) from 5-9 at the Chula Vista Marina. It is free and includes two drinks and some appetizers. If you want to go, contact Sharon to reserve your spot.

This is a really fun event even if you don't crew. The race is fun to watch. Island Breeze will play that day. It's a great event for children, with game set up just for them. And there is the parade of sails.

Anniversary Party

Our camping spots sold out. So Janice snagged 10 more spots in the B row. But that's the last of the spots near our event. So if you want to camp, contact Janice ASAP. (captainscove@sbcglobal.net)

Donations for the silent auction and raffle are really low. We REALLY need donations. Please, please, please ask local businesses for donations. When you get a donation, email the details to Janice. If you are donating any unframed artwork, get it to Bob Clark (bobclark@sdphc.org) this week. He'll be going to Tijuana to get them framed.

We are in great need of money. We have to pay taxes for our re-incorporation. And we are putting out money for the t-shirt order for the Anniversary party. So to that end, we are starting to sell anniversary party wristbands now. You also can pre-order an anniversary party t-shirts at our next business meeting.

In addition, you can order the standard club t-shirt or the pirate t-shirt (which we sold at OTL). If you want any of these, contact Janice.

And please, sign up for volunteer positions at the party. The shifts are 2 hours from 9am to 10:30pm. We need people for security, pouring beer, silent auction workers & closers, raffle booth staff and ticket sales. In terms of the silent auction, this year winners must be present to win. We won't spend a month after the event tracking down the winners. In addition, Margaritaville Tequila donated t-shirts. If you work your entire 2-hour shift, you will get a t-shirt. To volunteer, contact Janice or Sharon.

Also, if you have gently used Hawaiian shirts and t-shirts, please donate them. We sell them the day of the event. Please bring them the day of the event.

Membership Renewals

John and Stephanie Bridger are in charge now. We'll be sending out renewal forms in a month. But you can renew at any event too. And they are working on getting badges reprinted if you never got one (missing or misspelled). If you have any questions, contact Stephanie, Stephanie_bridger@yahoo.com.

Beach Clean Up – Sat, Sept 9 9am-11am
Through the Surf Rider Foundation, we will clean up a section of Mission Beach by Belmont park. We'll scour the beach by Belmont park, picking up trash for two hours. We'll provide gloves and trash bags. There is no prep work for this event. Just show up at the beach. This is a great event for families and students can earn community service time. If you want to volunteer or have any questions, contact Wendy, wendy@sdphc.org. At the end of the event, we will be near a number of favorite Parrot Head club bars, including Coasters and the Saloon.
